Permanent Eyeliner FAQ Answered

What is permanent eyeliner?

Permanent eyeliner is a beauty process that targets the lash line in order to deliver a defined, more full lash look to your eyes by applying pigment. Of all the permanent beauty services, permenent eyeliner healing process is the easiest and most straightforward.

How long does it last?

While it’s standard to refer to this service as “permanent”, it’s important to caveat that your eyeliner servicer will gracefully fade given how skin works. That being said, on average you can expect your bold results to last 2-4 years but results can vary depending on skin type and adherence to our aftercare guidelines as well as general lifestyle and skincare routines.

What's the healing process like?

Each client may experience slightly different journeys, but you can expect your permanent eyeliner to undergo an initial healing phase over the course of a week or so with 100% healing occuring around 6 weeks.

The first few days (Day 1-3) you’ll notice any swelling begin to subside and initial eyeliner lines may appear darker as your skin initially heals.

The next few days (Day 3-7) are a critical period for healing as you’ll notice any micro scabs to slowly peel and flake off which is your skin healing as expected. It’s critical you DO NOT pick or pull them as this could disrupt the pigment.

The phase of healing (Day 7-14) you may notice the color softening and settling naturally.

Now that we’re beyond the initial week, your results will fully clarify over the course of the remaining weeks and complete healing is expected around the 6 week mark.

How do I care for my eyeliner after my session?

Please refer to our permanent eyeliner aftercare guide for the very important information you need to maximize your eyeliner results but below we’ve captured the most important takeaways for you:

First 7-10 Days

Keep the area clean and dry

On top of keeping the area clean, here are some things you’ll want to avoid:

THINGS TO AVOID

  • Avoid lash lifts, lash extensions, or growth serums until fully healed.
  • Eye makeup
  • Mascara
  • Lash serums
  • Lash extension
  • Swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas
  • Excess sweating (heavy workouts)
  • Do not rub, pick, or scratch the liner while healing.

    Touch-Up

A perfecting session is required at 6–8 weeks to adjust color, density, or symmetry. You can discuss more about this with your artist before or at your appointment.

    Does permanent eyeliner hurt?

A majority of our clients only report minor discomfort such as light scratching or a tingling sensation. At Lavish Cincinnati we focus on fostering a healthy, comfortable environment for our clients. As such, we utilize a numbing cream during your session to ensure the most comfortable experience possible.
