PRACTICE MAKES… DECENT?
Even the most staunch DIY lash lover will openly admit it takes a lot of work to get your skills good enough to pass as presentable. Our clients who have tried and given up only to come back to The Lavish Cincinnati Salon struggle especially when they don’t have contact lenses. It can be jarring tugging away at your eyes while staying patient.
NEW PROBLEMS
Applying your eyelash extensions will certainly add to your already long list of steps in your beauty regimen. Here are a few key things that are now going to be a part of your life if you go down the DIY eyelash extension path:
- Worry about lashes types, styles, and lengths.
- With kits like Lashify, you are required to apply their black adhesive. It’s REALLY messy even to the trained DIYer.
- Increased time spent in mirror with a steep learning curve
BAD HABITS
While being able to modify real time your lashes may sound like a great flexibility to have – but the one nuance we’ve found is it creates bad habits that otherwise wouldn’t be present.
DIY ANALOGY
An analogy I use is someone skiing with a helmet and someone skiing without one. Skilled skiers will forgo using a helmet while casually skiing at a resort or just for fun. While there’s dangers associated of course with this activity, you’ve likely skied enough to know what to avoid and also be very mindful of what your limits are. If you have a helmet on, you may be more likely to attempt more dangerous mountains at higher speeds. It’s more often than not these athletes who are most often injured as resorts.
The point isn’t to advocate for skiing without a helmet (please don’t do this), it’s to show exactly what we’re told from our clients. They find themselves messing with their own work nightly only to wake up with something to fix. When you don’t have the luxury (burden?) of being able to modify your lashes, you are significantly more mindful of your care for them. Not to mention, your habitual appointments for new fills include proper maintenance.
Which is a neat transition into this next part.
SKILL
You get what you pay for – the old adage rings true especially in beauty. And while clients who we’ve talked to who have performed DIY eyelash extensions can get quite good at a great looking set, it takes significant time you likely don’t have. Not to mention, it’s objectively going to fall short of professional grade in any situation. What’s often overlooked are the little things like the application process. It’s not a matter simply of being effective or not. You also have to consider the effects of getting it wrong – even marginally.
If eyes are the windows to the soul well then our lashes are the shades, panes, and blinds. You don’t make your own window treatments do you? Even if you knew how, would you want to risk that given the importance of first impressions and even your own self esteem? Let Lavish help you look your best so you can feel your best. This includes our more than a dozen years of beauty experience mastering the skills so you don’t have to worry it – you’re in good hands.
