Dermaplanning Cincinnati FAQs: Top 10 Answered

Will the hair grow back?
Yes. The hair will grow back to the way it was before the treatment, because we are not doing anything to the hair follicle it will grow as it normally would.
Will the hair grow back thicker/darker?
No,  the hair will not grow back any darker or thicker than it was before the treatment. Dermaplaning removes vellus hair (peach fuzz) and dead skin. It cannot physiologically change the hair follicle. Therefore, vellus hair will grow back as vellus hair.
Are there any side effects?
There are minimal side effects, you may experience slight redness for a few hours after the procedure. You also can get whiteheads a couple days after due to the exfoliation that occurs with the dermaplane.

What is the difference between dermaplaning and a peel?
They are not the same or really comparable. Dermaplaning is a physical exfoliant by using a blade to remove dead skin and vellus hair.  Peels are a chemical exfoliant that assist in helping with texture, hyperpigmenation and fine lines. Peels may be recommended in a series to maximize results.
How often should I get dermaplaning?
You should get dermaplaning every three to four weeks to maintain the removal of dry dead skin cells and “peach fuzz”

No, we use a small surgical blade that will remove dead skin cells and unwanted “peach fuzz”. Shaving will not thoroughly remove the dead skin. Dermaplaning is meant to remove dead skin and removing the vellus hair is just a bonus for you.
Does dermaplaning get rid of blackheads?
Dermaplaning does help in the reduction of breakouts but does NOT remove blackheads, whiteheads, or milia.

Dermaplaning is great for mature skin since it has a build up of dead skin cells. Dermaplaning can also be great for rough or dry skin
